Juliana - Velvety salted caramel buttercream with vanilla buttermilk cupcakes

Scowl if you must but I’m not a fan of caramel, especially the cloyingly sweet type! If not for Juliana’s request for her wedding, I would have never put my heart into making a salted caramel cake. After a number of experiments, I’ve finally found a caramel cake that I think is pretty yummy. And yes, Juliana made her official debut at Juliana’s wedding! :D

Big Daddy (Nutella Valrhona Cake) has arrived! This is the big daddy of chocolate cakes. Inspired by The Little Bowl’s dad, this whole cake is moist and super duper chocolatey. If there’s a chocolate heaven, this cake will take you there. It is also the only whole cake that the Ugly Cake Shop is selling! $48 for a 7-inch cake (almost a kg) & $65 for a 9-inch cake - comes as is.

Peanut Butter Cupcake Roses! These dark chocolate cupcakes are baked with love and topped with creamy, peanut butter roses…. The savoury frosting marries beautifully with the subtly sweet dark chocolate cake.

Baker’s Story: My ex-colleague, Sally, is one of the best bakers I know. When she first brought in peanut butter and chocolate cupcakes, we thought they were simply divine. Seriously, peanut butter and chocolate are a match made in heaven! After consulting various recipes and much experimenting, I’ve come up with my own version that is similarly luscious.

The cupcake that chocolate lovers dream of…. This decadent dark chocolate cake is made with Valrhona cocoa powder and frosted with dark chocolate ganache. Seriously good stuff….

Baker’s Story: Both Nicholas and I love dark chocolate. Determined to produce one of the best dark chocolate cakes that he’s ever eaten, I baked and adjusted this recipe over two years. This is definitely one of my signature items.

Kamski (Lemon Drizzle Cake)

This lovely buttery pound cake is drizzled with sugary lemon juice once it’s out of the oven!

Baker’s Story: This was the recipe that started my obsession with lemony baked goods. It’s unbelievable how heavenly lemon tastes in cakes! Kamski and I went for a baking lesson together and fell in love with this recipe. She’s also baked this into cupcakes. :)
